On the Move & En la Lucha

MiGente MiPubelo is still asking ¿Y cómo está mi gente? Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, we will host a series of community events focused on this year’s topic: On the Move & En la Lucha. We seek to connect with people who are passionate about the well-being, health, and prosperity of all peoples in the Latinx diaspora.

The absence of authentic Latinx stories have stripped us of our past, present, and threaten our future. In unison, we raise our voices and reach for a community we struggle to see.

The keystone Mi Gente Movida invites everyone to listen to the current story unfolding of our Latinx friends, families, and neighbors on October 2nd at the Warehouse Arts District.

Artists of the Latinx diaspora of all genres are welcomed to apply to be part of all the festivities. There are 3 call to Artists. Apply to 1 or apply for them all. Your story is part of the community that will be told!!!! To Apply you will be asked for sample work and a description of what you would like to contribute in your medium. After your application is submitted, the team will be in touch with you on next steps. APPLY TODAY!

Latinx Collaborative Call – Word of the Day

MiGente MiPueblo is launching a “Word of the Day” campaign to showcase our shared language and promote community engagement around equity and advocacy for the Latinx community in Pinellas County. We recognize and honor the power of artists to catapult our stories into collective consciousness.

We invite local artists to create a work of art centered around an individual word included in the social media campaign. The campaign will include 30 spanish words that will be shared throughout the month of August on social media pages. Artists will be given the list of words in advance. Each work of art should incorporate public responses to the word.

This is a highly collaborative call to artists and cross genre collaboration is encouraged – example – visual and performance collab on community feedback.

Discipline: Visual, Performance, Film, Literature/Poetry, Interdisciplinary

Upon Acceptance – Artwork Requirements: dimensions, length, etc

Artists Consider:

How does this word capture our truths living in Pinellas County and this country? How do our stories overlap? How does this word relate to the healing and advocacy work of the Latinx diaspora?
